Job Description

Mission Technologies a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries seeks a current Reserve, Air National Guard or retired/separated U.S. military Air Battle Manager, Weapons Director, and/or Air Intercept Controller to fill the role of a Tactical Command and Control (TAC C2) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Mobility Air Forces (MAF) Distributed Training Center (DTC) in O'Fallon, IL. The TAC C2 SME will apply their operational knowledge of Air Force doctrine, aircraft capabilities, and tactics to prepare realistic aircrew training scenarios and lead the execution of MAF Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) events.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Leads and facilitates mission briefings and debriefings as well as evaluates simulator design and training effectiveness to provide maximum proficiency. Collaborates with MAF Aircrew Training Device providers and our customers to determine exercise requirements that will enable the units to meet the MAF DMO Program vision to enhance Global Reach through a network of live, virtual, and constructive training capabilities. Provides operational and tactical level experience in integrated employment of MAF DTC core missions, with specific expertise in fighter employment and fighter integration. Expertise in sister service core missions may be appropriate and requested for training joint customers. Duties include, but are not limited to
  • Provide subject matter expertise to support DTC Operational Training events
  • Lead the development, coordination, and integration of MAF Mission Profile (MMP) Events to maximize training.
  • Coordinate with MAF units, external players, exercise directors and Aircrew Training Systems personnel on DMO mission training requirements.
  • Provide DMO Event Control / Management during event planning and execution.
  • Functions as the mission SME, orchestrating Virtual-Constructive inputs into DMO events.
  • Provide instructor level expertise to help shape tactical training for participants.
  • Provides mission commander leadership for the execution of DMO training events.
  • Create and modify mission-planning materials to ensure participants achieve maximum training.
  • Provide constructive and threat generation expertise for operational execution. Coordinate with Network Operations Center (NOC) personnel for Event Control Center (ECC) set-up
  • Report issues related to stimulation software applications and provide basic trouble shooting support.
  • When not directly supporting DMO events, other duties include:
  • Attend scheduled academics, meetings, and other training.
  • Provide academic support (briefings, instruction, etc.) as coordinated.
  • Support other Operational Testing & Training Infrastructure activities defined by the Government

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Current or previously qualified Air Battle Manager, Weapons Director, and/or Air Intercept Controller, preferred within last 3 years.
  • Must be familiar with Air Combat Command (ACC) Multi-Service Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures for Air Control Communication (AFTTP 3-2.8).
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must have proven leadership skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and oral

Preferred Requirements

  • Previous or current Active Duty or Reserve Component instructor
  • Three (3) years' experience conducting events in a robust DMO environment
  • Instructor or Evaluator experience
  • Experience with environment generator software to include Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) and Modern Air Combat Environment (MACE)
  • Recent experience (within past 3 years) in planning and executing Large Force Exercise training events
