Magnetic Resonance Imaging LeadMethodist CampusFull time 40 hours - 4 Ten hour shifts/week 1st shiftTo perform routine and specialized examinations in MRI; adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results; prepare patients for examinations. This requires independent judgment to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist. Assumes personal responsibility for MRI safety program and MRI accreditation.Responsible for house wide training on MRI safety in order to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Responsible for ACR accreditation which involves collecting all image and phantom data, reviewing images with radiologist and assembling all material and film for review.

Demonstrates a practical problem solving approach to patient moving and handling issues.

Demonstrates skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment.

Assures competent personnel and continued skill development. Continuously evaluates staff performance by providing positive reinforcement and constructive criticism in a professional manner.

Manages personnel conflicts and seeks direction from the Radiology Manager.

Facilitates staff development on a formal and informal basis as well as new employee orientation through a structured system.

Communicates information and direction to staff through effective mechanisms including at least monthly staff meetings for which minutes are maintained.

Monitors and maintains skill levels of staff in all areas of MRI.

Shares knowledge and guides fellow technologists/students with proper department protocol and procedures by being readily available and willing to help.

Coordinates a training program for students and technologists to ensure high quality exams.

Displays leadership skills in their daily process. Develops and implements a staffing plan by adjusting staffing levels up/down based on daily workload

Provides input on the evaluation of staff

Participates in the Quality Improvement process

Leads in development of teamwork of staff to ensure efficient and appropriate patient care

Networks with other professionals regionally

Demonstrates ability to multitask to assist with workflow

Develops new processes utilizing creative ideas for a dynamic environment

Assists in achieving competencies

Maintains a current knowledge by keeping abreast of trends in new processes and procedures

Follows up on concerns/problems as needed

Performs MRI Procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, and procedures of Medical Imaging. Exhibits competency and is the resource person in performing MRI procedures.

Obtains accurate histories and explains rationale for procedure to patients/families.

Evaluates the finished films to ensure diagnostic films are being submitted to the radiologists.

Maintains quality care throughout the procedure.

Maintains expert working knowledge of both high field and low field magnets. (Including hardware and software.)

Expert and resource person for troubleshooting equipment.

Develops and records protocols under the direction of the radiologists.

Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing.

Performs patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider’s orders and hospital lab procedures/policies.

Education: Associate's Degree required. Credentials: CPR Must be registered in Radiologic Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and must have documentation of this registry at the time of employment. Board certified in MRI is required. Must be licensed by the State of Illinois and must present documentation at the time of employment. Experience: 1-3 years of experience in/with problem-solving skills, the ability to set priorities, organize work and have excellent interpersonal skills. Flexibility and the ability to work well with others are required.
