THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

The Manager Merchandise Planning and Inventory is responsible for developing the overall financial and inventory management strategy for their area of responsibility. They will develop tops down financial targets for Sales, Margin, and Inventory that support the corporate financial targets. This function will play a key role in working cross functionally with supply chain and merchandising leadership to support growth and increase profits by optimizing supply chain efficiencies.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for working with the merchandising leadership to align on tops down annual targets for key metrics such as: Sales, Selling Margin, Vendor Income, Receipts, and Inventory Turn
  • Work cross functionally in season with merchandising and finance to develop divisional forecasts for Sales, Margin, Receipts, Turn, and Inventory.
  • Responsible for adjusting forecasts based on actual performance and provide recommendations and options with respect to lifecycle management, exit strategies and clearance inventory liquidation.
  • Work with Supply Chain to optimize inventory movement. Develop strategies to improve network flow, turn, and lower costs as well as remove aged/nonproductive inventory.
  • Champion and support new business initiatives and acts as a change agent for new system and process introductions that support Ulta's growth and competitive edge.
  • Must be passionate about team development and enjoy developing others. Must be willing to sit alongside team members and "show the way" while setting clear expectations and accountability.

THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:
  • Minimum of 6-8 Years of buying/planning/inventory/supply chain related experience
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong listening skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong eye for detail, and capable of multi-tasking
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills with solid proficiency in usage of Excel. Working knowledge of SAP or JDA a plus.
  • Highly motivated individual with strong initiative and positive attitude
  • Strong work ethic, ability to meet tight deadlines/thrive in fast-pace environment
  • Professionalism and confidentiality required both internally & externally
  • Follows principles & values to do the right thing
