job detailsjob summary:A Metallurgical Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Decatur, IL area. This role involves analyzing and qualifying mining and construction equipment parts, supporting failure analysis and process improvement, and performing various metallurgical tests within an ISO-accredited laboratory.location: Decatur, Illinoisjob type: Contractsalary: $22.12 - 33.86 per hourwork hours: 8am to 4pmeducation: Bachelorsresponsibilities:

Analyze parts returned from customers.

Qualify parts based on metallurgical specifications and requirements.

Assist process engineering, design, manufacturing, and quality teams with root cause corrective actions from failure analysis and part qualifications.

Includes metallography, microscopy, fractography, non-destructive evaluation, SEM/EDS analysis & interpretation, mechanical testing (tensile & Charpy), hardness testing, and other destructive testing.

Part of a metallurgical laboratory team ensuring the quality of mining and construction equipment and components.

Hands-on engineering role supporting industrial part production and processes.

Skills:

Fractography.

Microscopy.

Metallography.

Non Destructive Evaluation.

Mechanical Testing.

Hardness Testing.

SEM / EDS.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical or Materials Science Engineering.

Preferred 3+ years of experience.
