Technician I, Metrology is responsible for the oversight, calibration, and maintenance of analytical and microbiology equipment. You will act as the primary source for regulatory compliance in the testing laboratory with regard to equipment. You will resolve any equipment problems that may arise during laboratory testing and engage in the process of forming, developing, reviewing, and approving documents for equipment SOPs. This position will also investigate of Out-of-Tolerance (OOT) events, impact assessments, and the management of equipment systems in the laboratory.
Job FunctionsMaintain equipment readiness within established parameters governing regulatory compliance expectations so that all reasonable customer requests pertaining to the conduct of testing are met in a timely and effective mannerAssist in the interpretation of calibration records requested by customers during on-site auditsParticipate in customer audits as directed by Quality ManagementParticipate in department and/or company-wide projects designed to improve the nature of customer servicePlay the lead role in the resolution of Out-of-Tolerance eventsAssist Management in addressing and resolving Corrective or Preventive actions as they relate to equipmentEnsure that testing staff working in the laboratory receive the help and cooperation they need on equipment used to successfully complete their studiesPrepare protocols related to validation and requalification of equipment and ensure all schedules are being maintainedPrepare impact assessment reports for the equipment involved in out-of-tolerance eventsCoordinate outside calibration testing for equipment as neededWork closely with department and metrology management in the qualification or retiring of equipment within the laboratoryParticipate in the development or revision of Standard Operating Procedures for testing equipmentEnsure all equipment documentation is complete, up-to-date, and stored properlyEnsure all equipment is entered, scheduled, and maintained in the LIMS systemPlay a key role in creating and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork within the metrology teamProvide updates to Metrology Management concerning in-process projects related to equipmentMaintain thorough knowledge and understanding of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) pertaining to testing, review, and equipment calibration and maintenanceMaintain thorough knowledge and understanding of general SOPs, GMP/GLP and ISO regulations as it pertains to work performed in the laboratory
