We manage the ground transportation of 400,000 loads per year. Working at GTOC gives the unique opportunity to connect and collaborate with different key players in the supply chain (including suppliers, purchasing teams, supply chain teams, receiving teams) and customer collaboration teams in order to design and execute innovative inbound transportation solutions, while acquiring deep knowledge of the execution of transportation.Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Supervises a team of approximately 7 transportation analysts who are responsible for different carrier groups (services) within the North America ground transportation network

Support monthly and annual transportation bid events by partnering with procurement partners, supply chain, and operations teams. Also consolidating and control the quality of master data and volume

Relationship management / regular meetings / performance improvement initiatives with all North America Ground providers

Responsible for key lane proactive management and solutioning, carrier capacity monitoring and identifying need for supplemental bids, carrier RCCA (root cause corrective action) management

Responsible for significant OPACC reduction goal in collaboration with supply chain teams

Lead and/or support customer governance meetings to report on GTOC performance (OPACC and velocity)

Collaborate with peers to achieve demanding team goals

Collaborate with colleagues in Integrated Logistics to support the continuous improvement of the extended supply chain

Based on knowledge of transportation operations processes and systems, customer needs and insights based on analytics. Responsible for supporting the team in developing, implementing and monitoring agile network solutions

Team development on supply chain and transportation skillset and knowledge

Collaboration with cross-functional team to drive improvements in planned cost accuracy in our Transportation Management System (TMS)

Basic Qualifications:As a Part Time Intern – Order to Delivery for the Integrated Logistics division, you will work independently or as part of a team for the GTOC-Americas Carrier Network Solutions. These areas may include carrier metric creation and evaluation, Salesforce carrier accessorial approval, project team member, document control, data collection and monitoring of processes. You will also assist in addressing improvements for the Caterpillar’s ground transportation contracted carrier network performance.This position is located in Morton, Illinois with the expectations of working part time during the school year and during the Summer.Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Assist with implementing Lean initiatives to optimize workflow and efficiency

Work collaboratively with the GTOC-America’s team on assignments related to process improvements.

Analysis of carrier performance as needed.

Ground-transportation process troubleshooting and problem solving

Salesforce Carrier Accessorial Queue investigation of carrier fee requests and final approval to Caterpillar Accounts Payable.

Creation and maintenance of department work instruction documents

Internship Qualifications :

Must be enrolled full time at a 4-year accredited university/college

Minimum 3.0/4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (no rounding) at current institution

Expected graduation date of December 2023 or later

Applicant must attend 4-year university within a daily commute driving distance to the facility in which they will be working or have ability to work remote.

Must be able to work 15-20 hours a week during the school year and during the summer.

Top candidates will also have:

Leadership experience

Previous transportation, logistics or supply chain internship, co-op, or research/relevant experience

Salesforce, Tableau, TMS experience
