We are a small, specialized firm based in Chicago that has been providing investigative services for over 22 years. Our Licensee in Charge is a career private investigator with 25 years experience in the industry working on a wide range of matters. Internally we are comprised of the Licensee in Charge and a handful of seasoned field investigators whose backgrounds have historically been in law enforcement. We have no middle managers, administrators, or other office personnel and all work remotely. We are a personable and friendly tight-knit group and are currently looking for the right individual to fit in and pick up some of our field workload focused in Chicago and Cook County.

Our services include litigation support that is provided to a relatively small number of law firm clients – we are not a high volume process service mill. Client relationships carry a “just get the job done” mentality and our success employing our methodology has led to long relationships. We approach process service with an investigative mindset and utilize advance preparation, attention to detail, targeted scheduling, surveillance, outside the box thinking, patience, and good old tenacity to get the job done. We bill hourly (with minimums) + mileage and do not believe in non-serves. Most of our process service involves Illinois Circuit Court Law Division and United States District Court civil cases – we do not do eviction or criminal defense cases.

We are currently looking for a part time Process Service Investigator to handle work primarily in Cook County. Much of this work is focused in Chicago (all areas) though at times assignments will be given outside of Cook County. This is a part-time contract/1099 engagement and workload will be variable. While engaged with us you can work with other agencies including serving process. Pay is hourly with a minimum amount paid per serve, all travel time covered, and mileage/expenses paid. You will be given assignments with deadlines (at times very short) and expected to employ our methodology. The work is generally performed during evenings, early mornings, and weekends though there will be daytime assignments. You will be provided detailed information about the individuals being served and the addresses you are serving at. You will work one on one with the Licensee in Charge who will provide support when needed in the field. The Licensee in Charge has split time between the office and field his entire career and has spent thousands of hours doing exactly what you will be asked to do. He is someone you will enjoy working with.

This is not a revolving door engagement we are looking to fill; we hope to engage with someone for a minimum of five years. Other investigative work may be made available if things work out.

The person we seek to engage should have the following qualifications, characteristics, and skills:

Experience in process service, surveillance, or other investigations (required)

Valid Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation PERC (required)

Live in or very near the Chicago city limits (required)

Responsive, attention to detail, and following instructions

Computer / electronics skills including email, word processing, GPS navigation, online mapping, camera use, printing and operating a scanner (if needed you will be provided with a multi-function laser printer/scanner and all printing supplies)

Good report writing skills

Reliable vehicle and vehicle insurance

Available to work evenings, early mornings, and some weekends

Good at self-management and meeting deadlines

General street smarts and ability to be “crafty”

Good communications skills and ability to maintain professionalism during difficult interpersonal contacts

Law enforcement or military background (not required but definitely a bonus)

Firearm qualifications (not required but our agents are allowed to carry if property licensed)

Thanks for taking the time to review our listing. Are you the one?
