Senior Data Developer - Talend - INF001571

The Senior Data Developer is responsible for designing and maintaining the interfaces and data extracts for business processes. This person will craft and write programs and scripts required to extract, transform, clean and move data from the business systems into the enterprise data warehouse, data mart and data lake. Other related responsibilities include ongoing support, maintenance, and other ETL related information technology endeavors such as data migration, data cleansing and data modeling. Additionally, this role Establishes and maintains working relationships with technical and architectural team members across the technology organization. Lastly, this person will participate in requirement meetings with Business Analysts to understand analytical content needs.

Essential Functions
  • Provides critical thinking leadership pertaining to new ways of using information to improve business processes.
  • Designs and documents detailed ETL specifications based on business requirements.
  • Designs and develops using procedural and record-based patterns. Analyzes functional specifications and assists in crafting potential technical solutions.
  • Assists in detailing the requirements, resolving ambiguities and conflicts, and ensuring requirements are complete.
  • Defines, documents, develops, improves and maintains Software application modules in Informatica/Talend, ksh, Perl, SQL.
  • Develops test plans and tests all code following standard methodologies.
  • Performs design validation, reconciliation and error handling for all code.
  • Understands and executes release management and change management processes for changes to applications.
  • Identifies, fixes and resolves application issues and code defects.
  • Production support activities involve the identification, troubleshooting and resolution of application issues and code defects
  • Works with source system developers and business owners to define data extraction methodologies.
  • Works with Data Modelers to develop data warehouse models, designs specifications, metadata processes and documentation.
  • Understands SDLC concepts and aligns the process specifically with any iteration of an Agile process.
  • Demonstrates success working in a team-based environment by following standardized processes.
  • Participates and shares expertise in peer reviews of documentation and code.
  • Handles individual workload and delivers to the agreed upon project landmarks.
  • Coaches and mentors junior team members to facilitate their professional development.
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment and help resolve issues
  • Communicates status / risks to manager regarding delivering solution on time

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience required
  • Understanding of BI/ETL development in the IT industry with recent development, system administration, application tuning and debugging experience.
  • 5+ years development experience with database engines including Oracle, Mongo DB and Hadoop.
  • 5+ years' experience in ETL development
  • Knowledge of database performance factors, monitoring tools and tuning procedures
  • Knowledge of the company's business practices, and familiarity with the industry's products and services is preferred.
  • Understanding of SDLC and production environments.
  • Familiarity with SCM tools specifically, GIT, Jenkins and JFrog.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call support rotation

Preferred Experience
  • Proficient experience in designing and developing of mappings, transformations, sessions and workflows, and deploying integration solutions using Talend tool.
  • Implemented best practices around Talend development methodology and experienced in building ETL prototypes using subjobs, joblets and reusable components.
  • Experienced in Talend Big Data edition (Talend Standard, Big Data Batch and Streaming jobs) and have developed pipelines using HDFS, Hive, Impala and Kafka platforms.
  • Experience in working with Custom Java, Scala and PySpark usage with Talend Integration.
  • Strong knowledge in performance tuning of Talend big data processes.
  • Experienced in handling Kafka topics using Talend tool.
  • Experience in Unix, SQL queries, HQL and database scripting (procedures, functions).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD (Git/Jenkins)
  • Experience working on Cloudera Hadoop installation
