Join us.DescriptionThe key role of this engineering position is to move from learning and assisting others to fully contributing. This is the beginning of building deep expertise in one or multiple fields. At this level, the Engineer – Performance/Simulation/Application begins partnering with and providing technical guidance within and between units and other teams. Projects typically range from three months to two years. Ability to gather relevant information, compare data, identify relationships, and predict and manage failures is critical. Challenges include challenging the status quo and championing new initiatives, collaborating with team members and other teams, and keeping abreast of advancing technology. Decisions may affect the work group or project team, suppliers, multiple units, and both internal and external customers, and these decisions have significant impact on warranty, total cost of non-quality, customer perception, costs, sales, and the leveraging of technology. The Engineer – Performance/Simulation/Application may work in any number of functional areas requiring an engineering degree, including, but not limited to, product design, development, research, metallurgy, quality, reliability, materials, manufacturing process, application and installation, product performance/support, service, and facilities.Job DutiesThe position will be in the Engineering Data Analysis team that develops, improves, and maintains the Data Analysis Tool Kit (DATK). This tool can handle 300+ different analyses and is currently used by more than 3000 product development engineers in Caterpillar. Currently, we are adding data analytics capabilities to current tool and reinforcing current statistical analysis capabilities. We seek an engineer with a strong statistical analysis and data analytics background. Once you join our team, you will work on analyzing the data, implementing data analyses, and developing user guides. This is an excellent opportunity to stretch your data analytics skills and software development experience.Basic QualificationsRequires Ph.D degree in engineering focusing on data analytics or statistical analysis research.M.S. in engineering with 3 to 5 years of experience in data analytics or statistical analysis is acceptable.Top Candidates will also haveStrong statistical analysis backgrounds

Capable of designing hypothesis test

Deep understanding of the confidence interval estimation
