Responsibilities include detailed design and execution of testing strategies, on- going risk analysis of specific projects and execution testing to determine readiness of projects. The QA Specialist is responsible for reporting on test results material to production readiness and for providing data to business users with appropriate information for stakeholders to be able to effectively make a go/no go decision. This ensures quality and thoroughness in a timely manner to products and fixes prior to introduction to the system application. General accountabilities include rate revision projects, production defect fixes, special projects and enhancements.

?As a Software Quality Analyst on the Quality Assurance team, you'll play a key role in Sentry Insurance's application quality. You'll work on detailed design and execution of testing strategies, on-going risk analysis of specific projects, and execution testing to determine readiness of projects. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, with attention to details, and can easily identify defects/bugs missed by others on the development team.

This position can be filled as an Associate Software Quality Analyst or a Software Quality Analyst depending on the selected candidate's related qualifications and experience.

This position will be staffed at either our Freeport, IL or Madison, WI office.

What You'll Do

As an integral part of a highly productive team, you'll plan, develop, and execute on test strategies and communication of test results. In addition, you'll:
  • Acquire knowledge of business processes necessary to develop, update, and execute basic (manual and automated) test scenarios as defined in the test methodology to meet team commitments
  • Work directly with your customers to triage and support them through the usage of a shared mailbox
  • Collaborate with Engineering to continuously provide feedback on quality of the system and user experience
  • Provide appropriate, pertinent, and timely communication to management and peers
  • Demonstrate a drive for developing testing scenarios
  • Participate in peer reviews to ensure quality

What it Takes
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of related work experience, personal lines systems experience strongly preferred
  • Understanding of IT technical terminology and concepts, experience with SQL preferred; Business Objects beneficial
  • Understanding of insurance industry practices is preferred
  • Demonstrates strong analytical capabilities
  • Demonstrates solid communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills to operate in a fast paced, demanding customer-oriented team
  • Knowledge and understanding of SQA industry practices is preferred
  • Software proficiency in MS applications
  • Ability to meet travel requirements
