The senior director position for the CBRE GWS Insights group acts as a team leader for experienced analysts driving real estate business intelligence projects for CBRE’s clients. Projects will be focused on data integration, warehousing, and visualization to optimize client portfolio operations across all service lines: facilities management, project management, finance, portfolio administration, benchmarking and capital planning, etc.

This senior director position will be responsible for project work for a distributed team, as well as growing our capability in the Asia-Pacific region. They will be responsible for the implementation of the proper technical solution and ensure the completion of work in a timely manner. The senior director will collaborate with senior management to ensure overall project progress and client satisfaction. The role works closely with our clients, a team of analysts, and the data warehouse technical team to create our business intelligence solution: automate data collection from source operational systems, aggregate and standardize the information in a data warehouse, and develop Tableau dashboards that use the warehouse to generate meaningful client insights.

In addition to acting in a supervisory capacity, the Senior Director position may be responsible for the actual execution of project work, as well. They may be assigned more complicated projects such as those with an elaborate scope, advanced analytical requirements, and complex implementations for strategic clients. Sophisticated analytical and technical capabilities are required to perform the required duties.

Beyond analytics project work, the Senior Director role will contribute to the enhancement of our analytics products under the direction of the Product Lead. This includes collaboration on defining the product roadmap, prioritization of key features, and technical discussions on the implementation plan. There will be a particular focus on advanced analytics such as machine learning algorithms and predictive modeling.

The ideal candidate possesses a broad skill-set across six key categories: advanced project management, team management, strong client-facing communications, experience in data modeling and relational databases, Tableau expertise, and knowledge of the corporate real estate outsourcing industry. Minimum of 7+ years of experience. Advanced degree not required but preferred. This position is remote, but the GWS Insights group has a significant presence in Santa Barbara, CA, Chicago, IL, and Dallas, TX. Work from home or another CBRE office is an option.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Implement and maintain key processes to be followed by the team. Defines priorities for planning, and other strategic activities for client engagements and internal projects.

Support the management and achievement of financial, operational, and other key performance indicators for client engagements, internal projects, or overall team goals.

Ensure a high level of employee engagement. Direct individual and team growth.

Oversee overall project delivery for business intelligence projects for a variety of corporate and government clients.

Review project results including Tableau dashboards, formal reports, PowerPoint briefings, etc.

Architect technical solutions for data ingestion and integration.

Develop advanced Tableau dashboards for presentation of analytics.

Lead client presentations (both in-person and virtually) of project progress meetings and presentations of results.

Problem solve technical issues and client questions. Bring up issues to senior management and dedicated technical team as needed.

Continuous review and improvement of project processes.

Provide domain expertise on data-related processes and analyses.

Collaborate with Product Team to enhance the product offering with a particular focus on advanced analytics.

Miscellaneous support for marketing materials, presentations, budgeting, and resource planning.

Assigns tasks, responsibilities, and evaluates and mentors staff.

Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will supervise a team of analysts. Provides formal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. Leads project teams and/or plan and supervises assignments of employees. Recommends staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisals for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

This is a remote position, although location in Santa Barbara, CA, Chicago, IL, or Dallas, TX is preferred.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university. Master’s degree or MBA preferred. Minimum 7+ years of related experience and/or training, including five years of experience at the management level. Previous project management, business analytics or related experience required. Advanced skills in planning, database management/business intelligence.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

None required. Business Intelligence certification preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to deliver efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

DATA MANAGEMENT AND ANALYTICS

Extensive experience with data management, architecture, and analysis. Skilled in dashboard design and development. Extensive experience with Tableau is required. Proficiency in database technologies such as Microsoft Access or SQL Server is preferred. Understanding of hosting environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure. Experience in advanced analytics such as regression analysis, machine learning models, or artificial intelligence.

FINANCIAL AND STATISTICAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires basic knowledge of financial and statistical terms and principles.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex data sets. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite Products, particularly Excel. Comfortable working independently and multi-functionally.
