Requisition ID :16713 Employment Type :Full Time Job Category :Operations / Warehouse / Distribution Work Location :Hanover Park, IL (Whse) Senior Maintenance Technician 1st Shift - Monday - Friday - 8:00 am - 4:45 pm BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY: This position keeps the CFC building, exterior structure, material handling system, utilities and related fixtures functional at all times. To perform this job successfully an associate must be able to perform the following duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these duties. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on material handling equipment and distribution center building facilities in accordance with work orders and technical documentation as assigned in a timely manner.

Responsible for responding to service requests and work orders with little supervision and direction without interrupting distribution center operations.

Responsible for responding to operational calls for troubleshooting/diagnosing problems with material handling systems and equipment.

Works as a contributing member of the Maintenance team to provide the best service to the Customer and maximize the uptime of the Customer Fulfillment Center.

Interprets machine and building drawings.

Uses CMMS generated maintenance worksheets to ensure that distribution center machinery and equipment are maintained in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and good maintenance practices.

Supports the Safety Culture by following established SOP’s.

Engages in the local Safety Culture through safety team support and offering safety suggestions.

Assists department supervisors in identifying risk to associates or the business and mitigate those risks.

Monitors maintenance upkeep checklists to ensure efficient material handling operation. May assign tasks to Preventive Maintenance Technicians.

Maintains a safe work environment by documenting (in writing) potential safety issues concerning material handling systems and equipment or distribution center facility; communicates potential safety issues to Facility Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor.

Operates, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical and mechanical material handling equipment including HVAC, fork trucks, sorters, conveyors, and associated equipment.

Organizes workshop and maintains assigned test, maintenance equipment, and tools; orders replacement parts as needed.

Performs all duties within safety guidelines.

Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC’s mission.

Cleans up spills.

Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or the equivalent required.

Ten years of overall maintenance experience or the equivalent required.

Five years industrial motor control experience or equivalent education required.

SKILLS:

Position may require a valid state driver’s license.

Knowledge of carpentry techniques and practices required.

Basic computer skills required.

Demonstrated knowledge in interpreting and reading hydraulics, electrical information and pneumatics.

Sitting, standing, walking, lifting materials (maximum 75 pounds – individual or team lift), carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, climbing using legs and arms, balancing, stooping, kneeling, repeated bends, reaching high and low, and repetitive twisting or pressure, involving wrist and hands. Hearing, seeing (including depth perception and peripheral vision), ability of mental coordination. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required for position. Must be able to operate at heights up to 50 feet. Mentally alert for entire shift.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

May be required to obtain internal certification to drive warehouse vehicles within specified time requirements.
