Description Job OverviewOur client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their team on a contract basis for 3 to 6 months. The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, assisting with month-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position is an excellent opportunity for accounting professionals looking to contribute to a dynamic team environment in the St. Charles area.Key Responsibilities
General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger by preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts to ensure accuracy.
Financial Reporting: Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Account Reconciliations: Perform reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and other key accounts.
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Assist in processing invoices, payments, and customer billings as needed.
Expense Tracking: Review and ensure the accuracy of expense reports and coding.
Audit Preparation: Support audit processes by providing necessary documentation and schedules.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and increase operational efficiency.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies and federal/state laws, regulations, and guidelines.
Requirements
Desired Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience (priority for candidates with staff accounting or general ledger experience).
Technical Skills: Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
Certifications: CPA is a plus but not required.
Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills.
