Join us.DescriptionThis is an enterprise role and is a central function to the deliver the Enterprise Technology Strategy objectives through governance, deployment, execution, and adoption of the technology strategy outcomes. This position is responsible for advancing Enterprise Technology adoption and leverage throughout the enterprise. This position is also responsible for management of a portfolio of projects which advance the Enterprise Technology Strategy.Job DutiesThis role is responsible for Enterprise Technology Strategy governance and reporting process. The role is also responsible for the technology adoption for programs needing aligned enterprise execution, and management of the portfolio of projects which support the Enterprise Technology Strategy such as Emerging Technologies and Engine & Engine Systems.The role of the Enterprise Technology Adoption Manager is to manage the team which is responsible for driving the adoption of centrally funded leveraged technology (NTI) and component NPI investments, regulatory driven, required prime product portfolio updates (e.g., Tier 4 deployment, functional safety, chemical management, etc.), and innovation tools. The role will also chair the Technology Advisory Board in support of the Energy & Transportation technology portfolio.Responsible for the process of the annual refresh of the technology strategy (includes mega-trend analysis, competitive assessment, external partnership review, key technology and bold goal revisions), tracking and monitoring the enterprise leveraged New Technology Introduction (NTI) investment portfolio, delivering major technology demonstrations, and for select technology portfolios, transferring technologies into NPI programs to meet time, cost & quality targets, delivering technology programs aligned to product, market and customer needs while adhering to the Technology Readiness Level process, and leading technology integration events to integrate and align the technology strategy across the enterprise.This position will develop standard processes for IC&S’s technology portfolio management. This position will lead the IC&S technology portfolio managers in execution of the common processes and management of the exempt investment in technology. This role will support the Director of Innovation and Emerging Technology and the Chief Technology Officer in the execution of the Enterprise Technology Strategy.This position works with different partners (including Chief Engineers, Product Managers, and Technology Managers) across the enterprise to communicate, deploy and execute the Enterprise Technology Strategy.Decisions made in this role will affect Enterprise Technology Strategy direction, total product lines, major company processes and multiple technologies. Decisions will impact public perception of Caterpillar, the technology it uses and its applications, warranty, company strategy and partnerships with universities, research organizations and other external groups.The incumbent must be a strategic, visionary leader and integrator. The position must be able to understand external forces, competitive threats, changing business conditions, mega-trends, technology disruptors and the potential impact to the technology strategy. Role requires ability to execute strategic direction through managing new technology portfolio and investments, delivering technology transfers into NPI programs.Basic QualificationsAn engineering or advanced technical degree with at least 15-20 years of industry experience.This position requires the ability to manage and drive investment in technology.Business acumen, strong organization and planning skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.This position must be able to communicate with executives and all levels of the organization.Position requires strength as strategic thinker at an enterprise level.Position requires ever increasing skills in visioning, strategic planning, and coaching, influencing and leading people as well as ability to integrate Caterpillar's operations, technologies, products, and diverse strategies.Intimate familiarity with the Caterpillar Technology strategy is required as well as strong strategic thought capability, experience in strategy development and deployment, and a record of strong execution.Experience managing higher level workforce with proven leadership abilities, strong performance history, and high engagement record is required.Must have the ability to run large multidisciplinary programs, excellent problem-solving skills, and team management capability.Top Candidates will also haveExternal customer-facing experience.Additional InformationThe location for this position is Mossville, IL and Aurora, IL.Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.This position will require less than 10% travel.Visa sponsorship is available for this position.Employee benefit detailsOur goal at Caterpillar is for you to have a rewarding career.
