Read on to learn about how to be part of the Lilly story!The LRL Procurement Associate Director in Global Procurement sources Toxicology, Drug Disposition and PK/PD services for all U.S. LRL research sites. The role serves as a business partner to LRL Discovery Research to minimize supply risk and ensure competitive product and service costs with our vendors.This role will lead all aspects of the strategic sourcing process, from strategy development and supplier selection to contract negotiation and ongoing supplier management. Collaborating closely with the Toxicology, Drug Disposition, and PK/PD functions, this team member will address business needs with our external providers. Key responsibilities include understanding the market to ensure a competitive environment, proposing new opportunities where applicable, and partnering with finance, quality, legal, and other functional groups to deliver optimal business results.Key Objectives/ResultsAccount Management –

Understand the requirements of the business partners on a global basis

Educate on procurement practices and policies to enhance the value of the purchases

Build strong working relationships with business teams and functional leadership

Effectively use data and metrics to drive the best business outcomes and lead constant improvement efforts

Communicate proactively on projects and other deliverables

Category Management –

Build and maintain category expertise in assigned categories

Develop and implement category strategies for Toxicology, Drug Disposition, and PK/PD services by assessing the current situation, future needs, marketplace dynamics and benchmarking

Apply data analytics to understand spend data and evaluate spend, demand and process levers.

Lead the supplier identification and selection process

Lead the contracting strategy development and negotiation process

Partner with business leadership to manage the strategic relationships

General –

Partner with the Lilly Research sites to mitigate the risks, drive flexibility and reduce costs

Collaborate on cross functional procurement initiatives

Adhere to all corporate and procurement policies and procedures

Basic Requirements

Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience

5 or more years of Procurement experience preferably in pharmaceutical manufacturing environment

Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization and/or visas for this role

Additional Preferences

Influence business decisions with senior management, both inside and outside Lilly.

Develop strategic category strategies.

Direct negotiation experience and understanding of commercial law.

Outstanding communication and presentation skills

Demonstrated project management skills

Knowledge of GLP in research environment

Demonstrated bold leadership to drive organizational change

Shown interpersonal skills especially in conflict situations and collaborates effectively with internal and external teams

Ability to network and influence and drive organizational change even beyond area of direct responsibility and across all levels of management and multiple regions

Ability to work independently, set direction, handle commitments

Use broad network (internally & externally) to maintain market knowledge & standard process awareness

Demonstrated business acuity; good analytical and problem-solving skills

Experience in managing global third-party relationships including management/oversight, supplier and/or supplier selection, negotiation, contracting and skills to resolve issues

MBA preferred
