Associate Scientist Process Development

COMMON CHARACTERISTICS: A Scientist in process development has primary roles todesign, execute and analyze laboratory and pilot scale experiments for process developmentand scale-up of processes for the expression of biologics/biopharmaceuticals. Bioprocesses canbe in mammalian cell culture bioreactors, protein purification operations like chromatographyand filtration, drug product process development and/or drug product formulation. A scientistin analytical development shall be responsible for developing, executing analytical methods(ELISA, HPLC, based methods, Mass Spectrometry, etc.) for supporting process developmentactivities.Responsibilities for process development scientist include leading development work forprojects to develop robust processes that scale effectively to GMP manufacturing asneeded, applying technical knowledge to develop robust processes or assays, designing,executing and interpreting internal and external client experimental plans including DOE,troubleshooting experiments, and guide Assistant and Associate Scientists with troubleshootingand experimental design, acting as project lead, including preparing and presenting data toclients informally and formally, with support of Senior or Principle Scientists as necessary,maintaining necessary documentation in a lab notebook, authoring, and reviewing technicalreports, and supporting process transfer into manufacturing by providing written and oralcommunication of the process, training of manufacturing associates, review, and approval ofdocumentation, and on-floor support. Similarly, for analytical development scientists, therequirements will be to develop robust methods that be transferred to QC for qualification andvalidation.
