As a member of the healthcare team here at Riverview Health, the Cook demonstrates active patient advocacy to ensure all rights are identified and met for every patient. The Cook encompasses all duties relating to providing exemplary patient care services at Riverview Health. Outstanding customer service skills and understanding of confidentiality, and productivity are required by the Cook.

Cook Job Functions:

  • Typically, perform fast food cooking duties in preparing food items to be served to customers. Prepare and cook to order foods requiring short preparation time.
  • Read food order or receive verbal instructions on food required by patron, and prepare and cook food according to instructions.
  • Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments.
  • Prepare foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use. Accountable for safety of equipment operation.
  • Prepare and cook food items in accordance to meet regulatory guidelines. Proficient at multitasking.
  • Knowledge of inventory, waste control and compliance.
  • May at times include a mix of duties – Supply stocking, record keeping, catering, line serving, cleaning, equipment maintenance, and participate in performance improvement.
  • Presents with a customer focus and promote a team environment.

Cook Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: High School diploma, GED, or currently enrolled in high school courses
  • Preferred Education: High school diploma
  • Minimum Experience:0 - 2 years of related work experience.
  • Preferred Experience: 1-2 years of cooking in a restaurant or health care setting
