Salary:Rate: $72k -$78k (Approx.)

Job Description / Responsibilities:
  • This position will serve as a technical contributor on NPI/CPI programs, projects and assignments that are complex in nature. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for diesel platform engine validation development.
  • The primary responsibility of the Validation lead is to determine reliability of engine system & components.
  • Develop new test or simulation protocols to accelerate the understanding of the cause of system & component failures. Analyze multiple sources of data (lab, field, simulation) in support of design improvements.
  • Program responsibilities will include developing engine program risks assessments, defect monitoring, defect resolution, supporting of validation tests & creating validation metrics for NPI and CPI reporting.

Typical Day
  • Lead & own multiple new product introduction (NPI) validation from program launch to production readiness gates
  • Facilitate the development of product validation requirements, cascade of these requirements to engine systems & components. Lead several design control team members in developing Failure Mode Based Validation Plan
  • Create System & Subsystem level FMEAs/DVP&R
  • Update FMEA /DVP&R with results of each validation activity
  • Perform validation plan robustness check (FMEA thoroughness)
  • Develop Test Designs plan & coordinate validation activities in test lab
  • Develop new product validation activities as needed
  • Provide guidance to design teams on risk reduction activities, analyze results from lab testing and engine iron tear-down
  • Record program lessons learned for use in FMEA library
  • Track & Report on NPI Issues & issue resolution
  • Calculate and communicate reliability targets & reliability metrics for NPI programs in product gateways to key stakeholders

Education Requirement
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Metallurgy, Instrumentation,…) plus 5-7 years professional exp

Technical Skills:
  • Experience – engine or related engineering systems experience i.e. Design, Simulation, Validation
  • Experience – min. 5 years of experience with validation (DVP&R development, FMEA facilitation)
  • Experience with engine or lab environment testing
  • Previous Six Sigma, Statistics experience
  • The ability to work in – and enjoy working in – a dynamic environment; adapting to and driving change
  • A willingness to work on a broad range of engine applications (Machine, Marine, Rail, Industrial).
  • A sense of urgency balanced with a strong commitment to quality
  • The ability to work in a diverse team environment with peers & managers
  • The ability to effectively develop and manage complex project plans
  • Computer skills; MS-Office, MS-Project, MS-Visio, Industry standard data analysis tools
