JOB SUMMARY

CBRE Enterprise Data Governance team is looking for an experienced, customer-oriented, business-focused Data Governance Manager to support the Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) business segment. This role is based in the United States and will report to Director, Digital & Technology. He or she will interface with stakeholders across the globe as Enterprise Data Governance and business teams are distributed across Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific.

The Data Governance Manager will be responsible for collaborating with business and platform teams to define, develop, and implement data governance, data management and data quality-related processes and tools for various GWS-related initiatives. This includes understanding how to bridge cross functional business processes and disparate data flows, and define frameworks, policies, standard operating procedures, business-as-usual (BAU) activities, and system improvements. She or he will also drive the definition and implementation of data standards, develop various business templates, and establish pricing and cost models for services provided by the data governance team.

The Data Governance Manager must be able to lead others through influence, without direct reporting authority. She or he will be expected to learn and understand the real estate business and the systems that support it at CBRE.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the development of data governance strategies that align with GWS priorities, including data quality management, data acquisition, reporting analytics, data and system support and business intelligence. Develop expert knowledge of business and solution domains in the above areas of focus.
  • Assist in developing and defining organizational structures, business processes, data policies and procedures, standard operating procedures, tools and communications protocols for data governance, data management and data quality
  • Collaborate with data governance leadership to develop frameworks and guidelines for various data governance, data management and data quality-related processes and tools
  • Collaborate with business and platform teams to define and develop policies, business processes, playbooks, standard operating procedures, business-as-usual activities, and system improvements
  • Develop standard business templates with consistent look-and-feel to support data governance initiatives
  • Provide input into data standards, validations and transformations for potential data quality improvement and enrichment of real estate data assets
  • Define ongoing maintenance strategy to support data governance and quality assurance.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders such as senior leaders, sector leaders, and global/regional IT organizations to adopt and leverage common best practices and standard frameworks, tools and processes.
  • Develop cost models and pricing models, obtain stakeholder buy-in and define cost recovery processes
  • Manager multiple tracks of data governance and operational activities based on an overall project plan.
  • Develop communication approaches and change management strategies; determine focus, prepare and deliver presentations
  • Develop training strategy and materials, and execute training
  • Participate in defining and documenting components of CBRE’s data governance framework
  • Communicate effectively across organizational lines
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university in Business Administration, Information Management, MIS, Library Science, Computer Science or related fields, and a minimum of six to ten years of related experience and/or training.

• 2+ years data governance, data management and/or data quality related experience in an enterprise environment across multiple application systems and business functions.

• 2 + years related experience in commercial real estate management (preferred) or related industry

• Demonstrated experience in operations, process development and change management

• Expert level skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio

• Experience working in large organizations with geographically dispersed teams and complex technical environments

• Experience working in a global environment and remote setting.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

• Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills. Ability to use conceptual and analytical skills to generate insights and recommendations.

• Ability to establish and maintain trust and confidence with customers, stakeholder and project teams through effective communication, conflict management and professional rapport

• Experience in dealing with internal and external customers, service providers and vendors.

• Ability to work with various levels of peers regarding complex business and data related issues.

• Relationship management skills including strong listening and consultative capability, the ability to influence business and technology partners to drive change and resolve conflicts

REASONING ABILITY

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to use strong conceptual and analytical skills to generate insights and recommendations.

• Ability to understand business needs; be able to interpret requirements, identify impacts and analyze problems to determine impacts to business processes throughout the organization.

• Ability to analyze and document complex business data issues and provide clear problem statements and recommendations.

• Ability to understand and produce user-based documentation on complex data management systems. Articulate the issues and resolutions via business-friendly communications.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

• Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

• Ability to handle multiple tasks, manage time effectively, and establish priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and changing team environment.

• Flexible and adaptable - able to work with diverse groups of people.

• Project-management skills. Detail-oriented.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, company policies and business practices to achieve complex results.
