Additionally, AECOM’s dedication to innovation and sustainability enables interns to contribute to meaningful projects that help shape communities and the built environment.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Provides technical support for a variety of utility design related projects, including treatment plants, pump/booster stations, water line and collection line design, rehabilitation, master planning, and construction administration.Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings.Work under supervision of a senior project manager in the water/wastewater/water resources practice or senior level team members.Utilize basic engineering principles, judgement, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems.Work on routine or detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and engineering analyses.Perform work with little supervision.Propose approaches to solve new problems.Identify discrepancies in outcomes, results, and analysis of engineering tasks.Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.Record field data using tablets and GPS units.Record and interpret data, conduct analyses, prepare reports, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.Perform data gathering site visits, field measurements, mapping, and observations during construction.Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.Software use includes, but is not limited to: AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Bentley and/or hydraulic modeling packages.Inspect construction crews’ work to ensure compliance with the contract documents plans, including and specifications on active construction contractsIdentify and inform the project manager or Lead Inspector of observed problemsWork with supervisor to address public and contractor questionsMake measurements and observations of work being performed to ensure accurate quantities are tracked for completed work.
