- Builds automation and tests to streamline the configuration, testing, implementation, and monitoring of Alation data catalog, etc.
- Collaborates with Data Governance and s agile teams to identify approach, dependencies, tasks, and seek opportunities for automation.
- Endeavors to continually improve your skillset by learning and leveraging the latest design patterns, principles and technology.
- Maintains and refactors automation tools. Additionally, seeks new opportunities to design. build, test and implement automations.
- Coordinates with Data Governance and Alation CSM, internal, and cross-functional teams to deliver functionality to augment native Alation capabilities.
- Work within team and with Alation support team to resolve questions, bugs and functionality gaps.
- College Degree or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of experience:
- as a full-time software developer or engineer
- in full stack development
- in Python development
- in C# .NET backend development and strong knowledge of .NET platform
- consuming RESTful and SOAP based web services, XML and JSON
- with a wide variety of databases such as (list them here) Oracle, Postgres, DynamoDB, Mysql, MS SQL Server and Snowflake;
- consuming RESTful / SOAP based web services.
- designing/developing robust API s
- Background and experience developing solutions that augment or support unique business requirements within the Alation platform
- Practical knowledge of Data Governance and Modeling disciplines
- Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle and experience working in Agile methodologies
- Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of peers in technical and non-technical positions
- Writes clean, readable, and easily maintainable code
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with peers and management
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming
- Understanding of fundamental design principles for building a scalable and highly available application
- Strong understanding and experience writing unit tests
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools: e.g. git or similar
- Proficient using Azure DevOps Pipelines and Repos
- Unix shell scripting
- Programming experience multiple scripting and programming languages and supporting technologies such as Reagent/React, Clojure/Clojurescript, AWS Lamda, Java, Python, R, Ruby, Go, bash, Swift, Beanstalk
- Hands on experience with functional programming languages
- Software architecture experience
- Test driven development (TDD)
- Experience with Event Driven and event sourced architectures leveraging microservices
- Experience designing/developing robust API s for mission critical, high volume systems. (RESTful, GraphQL)
- Experience working in financial services industry, regulated compliance environment
- Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Background in Domain Driven design
