Description We are seeking an experienced and motivated Plant HR Manager to join our team at a large, non-union manufacturing facility just north of Fort Wayne, Indiana. This role is critical in managing and supporting HR functions for the plant, including compliance, safety, and training, in collaboration with the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Department. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of HR practices within a manufacturing setting and be adept at supporting both strategic initiatives and day-to-day HR operations.Key Responsibilities:Employee Relations & Support:
Serve as the primary HR contact for plant employees, offering guidance and support on workplace issues and concerns.
Facilitate open communication to maintain a positive work environment and resolve employee relations matters effectively.
Recruiting & Onboarding:
Lead recruitment efforts for hourly and salaried positions, including sourcing, interviewing, and selection processes.
Develop and manage an effective onboarding program to ensure a smooth transition for new hires into the plant environment.
Compliance, Safety, and Training:
Collaborate with the EHS department to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Support the implementation of safety training programs, identify training needs, and track training effectiveness.
Stay updated on federal, state, and local employment laws and ensure plant policies align with regulatory requirements.
Timekeeping & Attendance Management:
Oversee time and attendance records, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
Support managers with payroll inquiries related to timekeeping and attendance policies.
Policy & Procedure Development:
Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures that align with company values and legal requirements.
Ensure clear communication of policies and conduct training sessions to educate employees on policy updates.
Benefits Administration:
Manage plant-level benefits administration, including assisting employees with benefit inquiries and addressing issues.
Collaborate with corporate HR to implement benefits programs and support annual open enrollment.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
7+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment; plant-level HR experience preferred.
Strong understanding of employment laws and HR compliance standards.
Proven experience in employee relations, recruiting, and benefits administration.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building and maintaining positive relationships.
Proficiency with HRIS systems and timekeeping software.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in a non-union, manufacturing setting.
Familiarity with OSHA standards and EHS practices.
HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
