Title: QC Lab TechnicianLocation: Evansville, INDuration: ContractSchedule: Third Shift: 11 pm-7 amTarget Start Date: ASAPResponsibilities:Safely performs all functions in support of DEPAM Operations responsibilities.

Performs Color, Mold and Quality testing for incoming materials, start-up, in-process and finished good under standard and specialized testing methods to ensure compliance with Color and Quality specifications.

Enters and interacts with data from several software systems (SAP, Microsoft office) to reflect testing requirements, testing results and required corrective actions. Dispositions product and isolates defective products per non-conforming material SOP’s.

Performs functions to support Operations and R&T related to fabrication of color mixes, molding of standard and testing.

Monitors equipment controls, troubleshoots quality equipment, leads troubleshooting efforts in resolving color and quality issues. Performs specialized quality equipment changeovers.

Provides shift guidance, personnel coordination in quality and color areas and ensures effective, in-depth turnover at shift changes. Liaison between Quality and Production Supervision.

Train other Lab Techs on the proper use and care of equipment to maximize accuracy and prevent damage.

Assists in the installation of new, revised, or upgraded equipment in the lab, verifying the safety aspects meet demanding requirements as needed.

Disposition product based upon testing results and quality (SAP) requirements.

Acquire samples based on Inspection Plan (SAP) requirements.

Perform mechanical and chemical testing as required in the SAP Inspection Plan.

Performs color quality control checks on production orders through the evaluation of samples prepared by molding / extrusion.

Performs visual color assessments and takes color measurements with a spectrophotometer to determine the acceptability of samples.

Performs start up, in process and post process testing and evaluation of products and processes as specified.

Provide information and feedback to Production staff on quality of production.

Isolate defective product when encountered in Operations.

Monitors inventories of Laboratory supplies and equipment and proceeds with steps to replenish as needed.

Participation and involvement in MOC process when requested to maintain a safe, consistent workplace.

Provides support and data transfer as needed to other defined systems.

Approves incoming raw materials following Incoming Material Verification processes as needed.

Performs outgoing sampling and quality evaluations as required

Makes formulation adjustments to correct off-color compounds and maintains color quality records per ISO requirements.

Weighs color and additive raw materials for extruder mixes.

Formulates, mixes and tests off line color mixes in support of manufacturing.

Maintains log of jobs completed, raw materials and weigh-ups used and labels raw materials as required.

Produces injection molded ASTM and ISO test specimens in support of Production and R&D.

Provides molding and problem-solving services to meet or exceed customer expectations.

Maintains clean and orderly work areas, including storing materials/tools neatly, sweeping/mopping floors, dusting, cleaning / wiping work surfaces, emptying drip pans & removing trash and waste materials.

Performs special projects and related duties as assigned.

Complies with established safety and environmental policies and procedures and actively participates in safety improvement.

Responsible for the entry of inspection data into system.

Responsible to notify appropriate personnel of quality failures.

Responsible for isolating defective materials when encountered.

Responsible for performing testing to meet Inspection Plan requirements.

Responsible to communicate issues and requirements to other shifts.

Responsible for Goods Issue in the color area.

Responsible for creating and maintaining equipment logs including required maintenance, calibration, verification, and other required care as needed

Work Notification creation as needed.

Requirements:

High school diploma (or equivalent) is required for this position.

College courses (most beneficial: math, chemistry, physics, color sciences, mechanics) will help provide knowledge of some of the testing theories.

The position requires good computer literacy.

Due to the mechanical/logical nature of the position, prior work history with highly specialized mechanical equipment preferred.

Experience in Engineering thermoplastics, Quality Assurance, destructive testing, Quality Systems, and mechanical equipment repair, control and calibration, experience in Color technology are beneficial to success in this position.

This position requires mechanical aptitude and skill as well as good color acuity and perception.

Due to the complexity of the equipment in the labs, the union of mechanical equipment with computer, good computer literacy and logical thought processes are required.

Additionally, the required knowledge of color sciences and color judgment add another level of complexity to this position.
