We are looking for a Scrum Master to bring their passion and skill for helping agile teams lead the transformation and aggressive modernization of our core business systems. This role directly supports the GRM US strategic objective of being #1 in the Independent Agent (IA) channel. Specifically, you will be aligned to a team working to simplify and optimize a multi-billion-dollar application, at the completion of which the team will then be moving onto implementing a technical strategy to transform it into a modern, cloud-based system. The IA channel is growing rapidly, and the simplification & transformation of the technology supporting it is critical to the long-term expansion and success of the business. Why should you join our team? • We are focused on leveraging modern technology to deliver value, increase our return on investment, and reduce our total cost of ownership • Our market segment is continuing to expand which drives demand for more features • We work as ONE team with adjacent squads and business partners • We continually strive to improve both our technical capabilities and culture to be the BEST place to work • You will have many opportunities to help shape the future of our team's capabilities and solutions In this role you will: • Serve as scrum master and coach 1-2 teams: facilitating transparency, inspection, and adaption • Lead a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging experimentation and innovation in processes • Guide teams on how to get the most out of self-organization and leverage this to evolve agile practices • Champion Scrum, its roles, events, and artifacts to help the teams and stakeholders understand their value • Manage interdependencies between teams • Work with peers and Product Owners to continue to evolve our planning practice in support of a continuous planning model • Promote the use of/experimentation with quality/engineering practices (BDD, TDD, Pairing, CI/CD, etc.) • Regularly assess Agile maturity and actively coach to higher levels of growth, partnering with peers to help impact portfolio maturity • Observe & provide consistent and impactful feedback for to individuals and teams Qualifications • The ideal candidate is passionate about Agile and continuous improvement and is invigorated by challenges, remains neutral, applies conflict management & establishes trust. Is comfortable having difficult conversations and actively coach others on improving facilitation skills. • Strong knowledge of Agile principles, concepts, and methodologies • Agile or SCRUM certification or equivalent training and experience strongly preferred • Ability to leverage expertise and enthusiasm for Agile to energize those around you • Enjoys coaching and mentoring • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and team building skills • Advanced presentation, influencing, and relationship management skills • Extensive experience with JIRA Qualifications- Bachelor`s degree in a relevant field (business, computer science, humanities, etc and at least 5 years related experience
- Beginner/1st level Scrum certification preferred, not required
- Knowledge/training equivalent to advanced/2nd level certifications from a reputable Lean-Agile organization a plus but not required (PSM II, ICAgile Professional - Agile Team Facilitation (ICP-ATF), ICAgile Professional - Agile Coaching (ICP-ACC))
- Experience being on multiple Agile teams in a variety of different contexts
- Scrum certification strongly preferred
- Experience working in a scaled agile framework preferred
- Thorough knowledge of business functions and extensive understanding of business operations, strategies and objectives
- Track record of continued and recent education in Lean-Agile including training, conferences, user groups, cohorts, self-study, etc
