What You'll Contribute

The candidate will be a well-rounded Senior Level IT support technician responsible for a wide range of technical support activities as well as having opportunities to influence IT architectural direction. The position will include installing, troubleshooting and maintenance of technical software, automation of technical IT activities where possible for AWS Services, interfacing with Application Development personnel and participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation. A strong knack and desire to perform troubleshooting activities is required with AWS Cloud services. The technologies involved include all non-business-related software used at the bank from 3rd parties, and experience with batch automation processing such as Automic is a plus. This is not an operating system, or network or storage admin position, but a good working knowledge and background of those disciplines is necessary in daily operational support. The ability to code/script to help with automation in Ansible Tower, building Infrastructure-As-Code with Amazon CFTs, and a strong troubleshooting acumen is a plus. Prior application development experience preferred. Knowledge of SQL/Oracle/ RDS DBs along with scripting languages like Python, Powershell, Linux Shell Scripting, YAML and JSON is a plus. There will be opportunities to work on cloud technologies inclusive of Amazon services and solutions. Familiarity with DevOPs and Agile from an infrastructure and operations perspective is a plus.

The candidate must be comfortable communicating with a wide variety of personnel including software vendors, application development, business personnel and upper management.

This job is part of a medium sized team of experienced IT professionals.

The candidate will have 5+ years of experience in large and fast paced IT environment.

What You'll Do

1. Install and maintain/upgrade key infrastructure application software and document the infrastructure architecture supporting 3rd party software running on EC2, serverless technologies like Lambda/ECS/Elastic/S3/SNS/SQS etc.- 20%

2. Monitor performance & availability of key infrastructure applications, and provide on-call support of key infrastructure applications suck as Automic on a rotational fashion with the ability to work with other IT Teams on troubleshooting efforts as required - 20%

3. Participate in IT architectural sessions to provide expertise to the framework and design of COTS and Cloud solutions and lead medium/large size infrastructure projects - 20%

4. Code and develop standards for creating cloud infrastructure components/services approved for use by SLM from AWS.

5. Design and implement automation solutions that increase team operational efficiencies -10%

6. Document troubleshooting activities for key infrastructure applications that can be readily used by all team members - 10%

7. Get established as an SME (subject matter expert) for Automic and at least 3-4 other infrastructure application/cloud solutions the Cloud Operations team supports - 10%.

8. Work with Amazon technical partners, solutions, and services and participate in budgeting sessions as required - 10%

What You Have
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years in large data center environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage IT infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels within an organization.
  • DevOps/Agile practitioner
  • Cloud architecture experience
  • Team player mentality and excellent work ethic.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, presentation, organization and planning skills.
  • Must possess initiative with strong analytical, problem solving skills and ability to make complex decisions in potentially ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • 3-5 years of previous application development experience working with languages like JavaScript, C#, and/or .NET, and scripting such as Python, PowerShell, Linux Shell Scripting.
  • Strong leadership qualities and strategic skills.
  • Previous experience with automation using tools like Automic or Ansible.
  • Prioritization and time management skills. Ability to execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • Ability to work with both entry level personnel and Senior level executives.

Preferred: Indicate "nice to haves" regarding education, skills, and experience.
  • Strong aptitude/skills in communication, presentation, and information technology.
  • Demonstrated successful client interaction skills.
  • Competency with the operational aspects of complex hosting/networking/VPC/Security Groups etc.
  • Mix of consulting and operational experience.
  • Understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework.
  • Experience with multiple AWS Services/Infra-as-Code/Ansible.
  • Oracle/SQL/RDS databases
  • Windows/Linux OS & EC2 management
  • Networking/Coding/Scripting (PowerShell, Unix Shell scripting, Python, YAML, JSON etc.)
  • IIS/.NET/Java
  • Middletier technologies such as JBOSS EAP, Apache Tomcat etc.
  • Work experience in a DevOPs/Agile culture
  • Amazon cloud services technology
