Overview:Wellmark is currently looking for an Administrative Assistant III for our Government Relations and Corporate Secretary office within the Company’s Legal Department. The Government Relations team is comprised of outgoing, energetic, dynamic, and individuals who enjoy working closely together on complex, high-profile public policy issues. The primary function of the position is to provide administrative support to Wellmark's Government Relations team. The position also helps provide support to the Board Secretary in the management of logistics pertaining to the Board of Directors and overall corporate governance for the company and its key subsidiaries. The individual will utilize independent judgment and organizational skills to provide a broad scope of moderately complex administrative support to multiple lawyers in carrying out their professional responsibilities. The Administrative Assistant must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.In addition to performing a full range of advanced administrative support responsibilities such as calendaring, document preparation and management, meeting/travel coordination, etc… additional responsibilities of the position include contacting key internal company and external personnel at all organization levels to gather and communicate need-to-know information, preparing regulatory filings (such as campaign finance reports and lobbyist declarations), preparing briefing material for both internal and external communications, assisting with the creation/modification of presentations, reports, and other various documents to support outreach strategy efforts and government affairs operations, maintaining routine files and working knowledge of important agency officials, and knowing how to address correspondence to government agencies and/or officials. Board Secretary support includes assisting with the planning and preparation for Board and Committee meetings, drafting and maintaining minutes of such meetings, and facilitating other board communications for the Board of Directors’ of Wellmark, Inc. and Wellmark’s other subsidiary organizations.The ideal candidate will possess prior experience and knowledge of (or interest in becoming proficient in understanding) federal and state government and activities, the legislative process, political advocacy, as well as corporate governance activities.
