Description We are looking for a Collections Specialist to join our team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This role involves initiating contact with clients who have overdue accounts, maintaining detailed financial records, and working closely with other team members to ensure all accounts are up-to-date. Duration of project: this project is ongoing - foreseeable through July, and could be contract to hire for the right person at 20 hours a week.Hours: 20 hours a week during normal working hours.Title: Collections Specialist Responsibilities: Outbound calls with customers who have overdue payments and negotiate payment plans Maintain and update customer files, including changes in names or addresses, mergers, or mailing attentions Draft correspondence for standard past-due accounts and collections Generate regular reports on the current status of customer accounts Collaborate with account managers to address delinquent accounts and keep them informed of the status of their accounts Assist in generating billing statements based on contractual terms Monitor and respond to customer inquiries about invoices as necessary Maintain accurate financial records, including accounting, receivable, and credit records Research customer discrepancies and past-due amounts with the assistance of the Director of Accounting and other staff.Requirements Applicant must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role or field. Proficiency in commercial collections is mandatory for this role. Ability to manage and maintain accurate records of all collection activities. Strong negotiation skills to resolve outstanding debts in a professional manner. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Proficiency in using computer software and applications relevant to the job. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to the company's privacy policy. Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis. Must have a high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation. Knowledge of relevant legal requirements and regulations related to debt collection is a plus.
