The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services’ (Iowa HHS) Division of Public Health, Bureau of Health Statistics is seeking aData Scientist (Data Scientist 1). Summary: Support agency-wide initiatives to strengthen Iowa HHS capacity for population health statistical analyses for local, regional, and state-level data. Work with Iowa HHS leadership and local public health partners to provide advanced statistical and predictive analytics and modeling. Responsibilities: Leadership: lead cross-collaboration efforts with leaders and community partners to support choice of statistical strategy and modeling. Statistical Acumen:conceptualize and conduct population health analyses applying mathematical, statistical and machine learning language and applications. Team Building and Communication:disseminate findings and engage with stakeholders on action steps. Applicant will be required to complete a background check to be considered for this position. This position is eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements. The selected candidate must reside in Iowa and be able to report to the Des Moines office on occasion.
