Director of Accounting - General Ledger at:

The Director of Accounting-General Ledger reports directly to the controller and has a close working relationship with the executive directors and others within the organization. Provides daily supervision of the accountants.

A few other details about the role:

  • Oversee the accountants, ensuring they receive the proper training and all tasks are performed on a timely basis.

  • Responsible for maintaining and meeting the month-end, quarterly and annual close schedules; ensure financial statements are completed in accordance with Lifespace policy and (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Ensure the accountants are performing the cash reconciliations in accordance with Lifespace policies; implements a review process to ensure any unusual items are identified, resolved, and appropriate training occurs.

  • Serve as the lead resource for the accounting system by providing training and support to team members for proper use and maintenance of the accounting system modules; manage the import of information from other systems such as accounts payable, billing and budget file; manage all accounting system upgrades.

  • One of the lead liaisons for the financial statement audit; work with the accountants to ensure all information is submitted to the auditors timely; provide information for other reports as requested.

And here's what you need to apply:

  • Bachelor's degree with major or minor in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA is preferred.

  • Eight to ten years of hands-on accounting experience.

  • Five years management experience preferred.
