Responsibility includes, overseeing safety and environmental processes and procedures. Making critical decisions to meet company goals. Plans, directs and controls activities and plans, directs both short and long-term safety and environmental objectives for the campus.

  • Drives Safety as the number one priority for the business.
  • Empower all team members to take ownership for their work by supporting safety improvement initiatives.
  • Develops performance measures, program planning, policy setting and other aspects related to safety, regulatory compliance and environmental requirements.
  • Audit all safety policies and procedures in order to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead all safety investigations with detailed follow-up and verification of effectiveness of any corrective actions identified.
  • Lead all PSSR (Pre Startup Safety Review) processes on all machine design or process changes.
  • Develop & support an employee lead safety team focusing on the elimination of risk on the Operations’ floor.
  • Develops and administers safety and environmental critical capital projects.
  • Establishes short and long term safety and environmental plans that ensures facilities are safe and remain in good working order.
  • Manages appropriate critical projects as are related to safety and environmental needs and priorities.
  • Coordinates facility code compliance and correction.
  • Ensures compliance with all governmental, regulatory and accrediting agencies, including but not limited to EPA,DNR.
  • Works with local emergency response officials as needed.

Requirements

  • Must have effective communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to communicate with employees from all functional areas, venders, consultants, customers, employees from sister companies, and management.
  • Must possess the ability to analyze, problem solve and generate new ideas and be very open to others ideas.
  • Must have sufficient experience to be able to analyze suggestions for merit.
  • Must be able to effectively work with others to evaluate potential ideas outside of knowledge base.
  • Possess solid project management skills and be a team player in a collaborative team environment
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • 8 years in a leadership/management role in an environment of comparable size and diversity.
  • Must be knowledgeable with Microsoft Office products.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the essential function of the job.
  • 5+ years in manufacturing
