The Environmental Services Assistant reports to the environmental services manager. As part of this team, this person performs the daily operations for routine cleaning and maintenance tasks and related work as required in addition to taking a leadership role in the daily coordination of EVS services.Position Accountabilities/Duties: Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks such as mopping, vacuuming, wiping down counters, cleaning bathrooms, emptying garbage, etc. Take down and rehang drapes and curtains Move furniture, beds, and set up rooms Assists in the implementation and quality control of departmental policies and procedures. Make recommendations to the supervisor for changes in supplies, equipment or procedures to improve safety and patient care or to reduce costs Act as a resource person to staff and management on matters pertaining to EVS. Takes a leadership role in orienting and training new and rotating staff 50 %Development & Education: Reading, writing and mathematical skills at level normally acquired through completion of high school or equivalent preferred. Participates in interdisciplinary task forces and committees 40%Basic UPH Performance Criteria Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
