Lead Mechanical Engineer

A manufacturing company in Des Moines, Iowa is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, install and provide support to the company’s industrial technology. They will be responsible for evaluating the existing processes and equipment and recommends modifications and refinements resulting in cost savings, energy savings, quality and safety improvements. They will also act as a project manager who leads, plans, organizes and controls major infrastructure projects with projects ranging from $100K to $5M.A great opportunity for a leadership role that has exposure to upper management with responsibilities of overseeing associate level teammates.

• Leading yearly assessments for boilers, contact heaters, DAs and U1-A pressure vessels
• Providing support to the Power House and Infrastructure teams as Reliability Engineer
• Improvement of programs to keep equipment and processes technologically advanced and leading the industry in product quality, productivity, energy efficiency, environmental responsibility and safety

• Analyzing project requirements, identifying and addressing the design parameters, reviewing engineering challenges and ensure solutions are timely and within budget
• Handling multiple projects simultaneously
• Coordinating with other engineers, technicians, plant personnel and contractors
• Process safety designing for all projects as well as the responsibility for the safety of Contractors
• Documentation such as training documents, program backup, network diagrams, electrical drawings, and others as required
• Communicating with the Engineering Services leadership team on a daily basis
• Providing technical guidance on infrastructure systems for maintenance and production equipment capital projects
• Providing training to other engineers, maintenance and plant staff

• Centrifugal compressor technology
• Field erected water tube boilers
• Contact heater and hot water curing systems
• Cooling towers and cooling water distribution/circulation systems
• Industrial and package chillers
• Reverse osmosis, water softeners, cartridge and media filters and other water preparation equipment
• Boiler controls using Allen Bradley software Studio/RS Logix 5000, FactoryTalk View Studio or RSLinx Classic/OEM, Asset Center
• AutoCAD Electrical, Vault, Revit, other Autodesk suite software
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
