Job Description

The Master Scheduler in

Cedar Rapids, IA will play a key role in day-to-day operations through planning and establishing schedules for multiple production departments contributing directly to the overall efficiency of plant operations to ensure the continued satisfaction of customers.The productionschedulerwill keep the plant withinbudgeted capacity numbers by product line and overall. The productionschedulerwill also provide daily metric reports on shipping, back orders, and incoming demand.

Objectives:

  • Schedule manufacturing capacity to ensure timely completion of customer orders, minimize costs, and improve manufacturing flexibility
  • Successfully implement the Master Schedule ensuring production is aligned through all stages of the process and across multiple functions
  • Ensure daily production requirements are achieved and revise production plan as necessary successfully resolving discrepancies or obstacles
  • Serves as a liaison between Manufacturing and Customer Service to address demand, capacity or service level issues that may arise

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with plant management and make adjustments to schedules as often as daily to meet business demands
  • Work with various production departmental staff to ensure daily production requirements are achieved and revise plan as necessary.
  • Plan and establish production schedules from start to finish.
  • Track progress of production and update the production batch listing daily.
  • Controls and supplies paperwork flow to production (work orders, labels).
  • Interact with Customer Service and Buyer for large jobs.
  • Interfaces with materials department to coordinate schedule compliance for outsourced products.
  • Run and publish various reports that measure our plant's daily performance
  • Generate schedules based on incoming demand using AS400 system, make modifications to the schedule to stay within capacity numbers
  • Participate in the yearly physical inventory and perform cycle counts as needed.
  • Track daily build date compliance to the schedule also tracking finished goods being staged ahead of the ship date in a timely manner
  • Monitors and communicates demand information across the facility so that everyone is aware of volume and metrics
  • Reconciles inaccuracies with customer shipments and deliveries
  • Documents key information for analysis which includes downtime, peak production, and scheduling accuracy

Key Relationships Supply Chain/Materials Management Manufacturing Operations Customer Service

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain is preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing supervision in high volume, high complexity environment
  • Manufacturing knowledge and prior scheduling experience desired
  • Knowledge of the product or services within the industry considered an asset
  • Sense of urgency and self-motivation, ability to work independently, under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills and ability to effectively problem solve
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work well in cross-functional teams
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills with an emphasis on Excel
  • AS 400 experience
  • CPM or APICS a plus
