Job Description

The Operations Manager oversees all Supervisors and Team Members in the Operations department. Plans, directs, and coordinates the work activities and resources necessary for receiving, storing, and shipping product. Communicates expectations to Supervisors; provides coaching and mentoring team members and continuously improves operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures including complying with legal regulations.

· Meets warehouse operations financial objectives by forecasting requirements, assisting with the annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.

· Accomplishes warehouse operations human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, training, scheduling, coaching, mentoring, and disciplining team members. This includes communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions and enforcing policies and procedures.

· Achieves warehouse operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans, preparing and completing action plans, implementing productivity, quality, and customer-service standards, resolving problems, and identifying trends.

· Develops / supports warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, developing, implementing, enforcing, and evaluating policies and procedures; developing processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping. This includes implementing changes / improvements based on analyzing process workflow, labor and space requirements, and equipment needs.

· Develops / supports warehouse design by planning layout, product flow, and material handling equipment along with evaluating and recommending changes to process or equipment.

· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, or participating in professional organizations.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES:

  • Experience in LEAN
  • Ability to work cross functionally with teams both on and off site
  • P&L management experience
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Write or help facilitate the creation of SOP’s/Standard Work
  • Works with HR to Develop standards for training, team engagement, and hiring
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of distribution center models and logistics processes
  • Ability to communicate professionally with people both inside and outside the organization
  • Excellent problem-solving skill and ability to deal with complexity
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel as needed

EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, high school diploma or GED required;
  • 7 years’ experience in distribution management;
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

The work environment is a plant / office setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet / slippery floors. Travel may be required.
