- Working knowledge of operation, maintenance and repair outage planning of fossil fuel boilers
- Welding, weld procedures, welding inspection and code requirements for fossil fuel boilers
- Engineering project management, including economic evaluation, outage contracts, schedule and time milestones
- Knowledge of boiler engineering, boiler & piping codes and related maintenance projects
- Industry standards for environmental regulations
- Interpret and apply engineering principles
- Prepare scopes of work and modification & repair specifications
- Prepare bid evaluations
- Provide recommendations for repair methodology of fossil fueled boilers
- Evaluate, monitor, direct and manage outside contractors, consultants, and vendors
- Direct or carryout inspections of fossil fuel boilers and provide recommendations to customers for immediate short-term repairs or larger, long-term repairs
- Comply with corporate Safety Program
- Performs work on a variety of complex assignments requiring in-depth analysis to determine appropriate solutions; uses a variety of complex tools and resources to solve problems.
- In addition to the requirements for Engineer III, uses tools and standards to design for safety in operating and maintaining equipment.
- Maintains an awareness of customer needs and expectations and proposes solutions. Is proactively involved in the identification and solution of problems falling within assigned area of responsibility with minimal guidance.
- Goes beyond generally accepted guidelines to analyze problems and recommend possible solutions. Solves complex problems by identifying new ways of using existing procedures, techniques and resources. Applies independent judgment in complex situations regularly relying on experience.

- In addition to Engineer III requirements, understands various corporate financial statements and can differentiate how project implementation will impact the rate payer versus the shareholder. Consistently applies the chart of accounts appropriately to ERP and MAXIMO. Consistently applies "best practices" with ERP processes to assure system efficiency. Structures projects such that the shareholder benefit is maximized.
- Bachelor's Degree Within an engineering program that is accredited through the Engineering Accreditation Commission Required
- If the incumbent performs duties in gas engineering, this job is then covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug and alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40 and 199), and is subject to drug testing according to said regulations.
- Project management leadership experience preferred, along with ability to deal with subcontractors and cross-functional teams; may have expertise in a particular area of the discipline.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
