Develops a schedule which facilitates the most efficient use of provider’s time. Has working knowledge of insurance and facility requirements.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinates scheduling for a variety of procedures, exams, diagnostic testing and surgeries at appropriate facilities Provides appropriate patient instruction for pre- and post-surgery, non-medical in nature and documents instructions given Proficient in computer and internet skills to access payers websites, perform surgery scheduling on multiple systems, verify patient eligibility for benefits, and to obtain surgery pre-certifications Maintains organization of scheduling for clinic provider’s and coordinates provider’s surgery schedules between OR and office Follows clinic procedure/protocol for the organization and management of the electronic medical record (i.e. test results, retrieval, filing, creation, repair, charging of electronic medical record).MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Work includes cross coverage in other clinic areas as team needs. Maintains supply inventory and stocks supplies in various work areas. Responsible for following equipment maintenance protocol, identifying problems, and coordinating appropriate repairs. Misc. office duties (i.e. copying, filing, retrieval of electronic medical records) Participates in Performance Improvement activities as appropriate.MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Background of at least 1 year of medical experience with working knowledge of health insurance rules and regulations preferred. Familiar with ICD-9/10 coding and CPT coding. Completion of Medical Terminology course. Clinic/physician office experience preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
