As a member of the surgical team, helps to provide a safe and secure environment for patients and staff. The surgical nurse aide assists in the implementation of the AORN Standards of Care, Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa and Operating Room Policies and Procedures.Position Purpose:Th surgical aide provides care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, surgical patients under the supervision of the registered nurse.What You Will Do:As a member of the surgical team, helps to provide a safe and secure environment for patients and staff. The surgical aide assists in the implementation of the AORN Standards of Care, Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa and Operating Room Policies and Procedures, including cleaning of operating rooms, positioning of patients, transportation of patients and replenishment of supplies.Hours:Flexible hours. Typically, 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Includes some on-call hours on weekends and holidays.Minimum Qualifications:A. Education: High school diploma required. Must provide proof of Basic Life Support training (can be trained on-site for BLS).Encouraged, but not required:

Successful completion of formal Nurse Aid course/training verified through transcript or original program certificate of completion, required. -OR-

Currently enrolled in a Scrub Technologist program or currently enrolled in an A.D.N., B.S.N., program with successful completion of first semester of A.D.N. program, OR first year completion of nursing courses in BSN OR graduate of an A.D.N., Diploma, BSN or LPN program.
