J.S. Held is seeking a motivated and technically strong Industrial Hygienist to join our growing Industrial Hygiene & Built Environment team in Kansas City. This position will support a variety of environmental health and safety consulting projects involving occupational exposure assessments, indoor environmental quality investigations, hazardous building materials evaluations, and risk mitigation services.The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively with project managers, industrial hygienists, environmental scientists, and technical experts to deliver high-quality consulting services to clients across multiple industries.Job ResponsibilitiesIndustrial Hygiene ConsultingConduct industrial hygiene assessments and exposure evaluations involving chemical, physical, and biological hazards.Perform workplace monitoring and sampling for airborne contaminants, noise, heat stress, indoor air quality, and other occupational exposures.Evaluate exposure data and recommend engineering, administrative, and personal protective equipment controls.Support health and safety program development, implementation, and compliance initiatives.Built Environment AssessmentsConduct investigations related to mold, water intrusion, indoor air quality, asbestos-containing materials, lead-based paint, and other environmental concerns.Perform site inspections, field assessments, and sample collection activities.Coordinate laboratory analysis and interpret findings.Develop practical recommendations for remediation and corrective actions.Project Management & Client ServiceManage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining budgets, schedules, and quality standards.Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to clients and project stakeholders.Prepare scopes of work, cost estimates, and technical proposals.Support business development initiatives by assisting with client relationship management and proposal development.Reporting & DocumentationPrepare clear, concise, and technically accurate reports.Maintain project documentation in accordance with company QA/QC procedures.Review field data, laboratory results, and technical deliverables for accuracy and completeness.Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.Collaboration & Professional DevelopmentWork closely with multidisciplinary teams across environmental, engineering, EHS, forensic, and consulting disciplines.Mentor junior staff and support field personnel as needed.Stay current on emerging industrial hygiene methodologies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
