- Developing hydraulic systems including PTO, Pump and other component selections, flow and pressure analysis, schematic and routing layout.
- Developing electrical systems including wire harness design and component selection.
- Developing pneumatic systems including schematics for air valves, cylinders, and controls.
- Developing structural metal weldments with fabricated sheet metal and machined components.
- Stress analysis with FEA to determine proper materials selection and adequate strength.
- 3D CAD Modeling of components and assemblies used for procurement and Production floor assembly aids.
- Working closely with drafters and other engineers to detail and approve drawings.
- Defining weld specifications based on strength requirements.
- Managing a detailed timeline of the project to ensure all tasks are on schedule and other team members are aware of project requirements.
- Ensuring vehicles are in compliance with all DOT, FRA and any other regulations required by the customer.
- Building a detailed Bill of Materials for each job.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ mechanical engineering with a chassis manufacturer, or similar type automotive application
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience using 3D CAD software
- Knowledgeable in Weld callouts, and schematic symbols.
- Experience with FEA software is a plus
- Experience with PLC, C, VBA or other programming is a plus.
