ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Developing hydraulic systems including PTO, Pump and other component selections, flow and pressure analysis, schematic and routing layout.

  • Developing electrical systems including wire harness design and component selection.

  • Developing pneumatic systems including schematics for air valves, cylinders, and controls.

  • Developing structural metal weldments with fabricated sheet metal and machined components.

  • Stress analysis with FEA to determine proper materials selection and adequate strength.

  • 3D CAD Modeling of components and assemblies used for procurement and Production floor assembly aids.

  • Working closely with drafters and other engineers to detail and approve drawings.

  • Defining weld specifications based on strength requirements.

  • Managing a detailed timeline of the project to ensure all tasks are on schedule and other team members are aware of project requirements.

  • Ensuring vehicles are in compliance with all DOT, FRA and any other regulations required by the customer.

  • Building a detailed Bill of Materials for each job.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ mechanical engineering with a chassis manufacturer, or similar type automotive application

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience using 3D CAD software

  • Knowledgeable in Weld callouts, and schematic symbols.

  • Experience with FEA software is a plus

  • Experience with PLC, C, VBA or other programming is a plus.
