Job Description

The Outsource Fabrication Lead guides third party outsource frame fabrication resources. The Lead maintains existing fabricators, identifies, coordinates and qualifies new resources to support and enhance manufacturing capacities, and ensures compliance with quality procedure and certification requirements. The Outsource Fabrication Lead acts as a liaison for all contract resources supporting company Operations teams including Supply Chain, Scheduling, and Manufacturing. They ensure all outsource fabrication resources are utilized efficiently, manage the schedule, complete supplier evaluations, identify improvement opportunities, and develop new outsource fabricator opportunities.

  • Manage outsource fabrication resources across the company’s footprint. This includes managing relationships, scheduling, assuring utilization and compliance with company quality standards to provide additional frame fabrication capacity.
  • Develop and maintain effective outsource contract relationships to provide the business needs for outsource fabrication capacity. This includes the assessment of needs as well as areas to improve and develop.
  • Determine and mitigate risk associated with projects that stretch available resources.
  • Complete annual evaluations of outsource fabricators.
  • Manage outsource fabricator quality issues and claims.
  • Work with Operations and Supply Chain leadership team to provide reporting of outsource fabrication to support forecasting.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing plants and Operations Scheduling to ensure effective resource utilization.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 8 years of manufacturing experience
  • 5 years of experience in pre-engineered metal building industry
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities
  • Basic knowledge of auditing manufacturing processes to certification compliance requirements
  • Advanced welding and fabrication knowledge and experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s or Technical degree
  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience
  • 2+ years of experience auditing manufacturing processes to certification compliance requirements
  • 2+ years of experience performing supplier evaluations
