TITLE: Professional Development Secretary

SALARY: $12.15-$17.15 (wage determined by years of relevant experience)

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 8 hours/day, 12 months/year (benefits-eligible)

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Learning Services

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Executive Director of Learning Services.

SUMMARY: Responsible for the logistics of district-wide professional development which includes event planning, conference registration and attendance, management of professional development records platform, and service for clarity around professional development participation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Communicates with the Learning Services Department on the logistical needs as related to district wide professional development.
  • Organizes required training delivery as directed by KSDE
  • Manages the professional development platform for entry of events, records of completion and professional development hour accruement, design of impact cycles and application of points, and responds to Professional Development Committee requests.
  • Provides user support and training on the navigation of the professional development platform.
  • Supports the design of professional development materials through the collection and publication to ensure ease of user interaction.
  • Creates and designs event publication through various multimedia platforms (e.g. district ENews, Email Notification, Website posts, and Flyers).
  • Supports in-district professional development event planning through logistical organization of the location, presenter details, technology needs, catering, participant communication, requisitions and invoices, and travel arrangements for outside presenters.
  • Supports out-of-district professional development logistics through organizing and communicating registration details, travel arrangements, agenda communication, and financial record keeping.
  • Support the professional development needs of the mentor program through collaboration with human resources on teachers required to have mentorship and upload required mentees into the KSDE database for funding allocation.
  • Support the professional development communication needs on the mentoring program and collection of artifacts of the process.
  • Support and update the handbooks as related to the Mentoring Program and Professional Development Program.
  • Comply with safety procedures to reduce the potential for personal injury or damage to district equipment.
  • Knowledge and execution of principles and processes for providing customer services including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Regular, in person, attendance and punctuality are required.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate. Additional training in secretarial skills, accounting, computer operations preferred.
  • Demonstrate word processing skills, spreadsheet, and database knowledge.
  • Demonstrate basic computer navigation/file management skills.
  • Demonstrate competence for assigned responsibility and maintain confidentiality of student and staff records and files.
  • Ability to get along well with others.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Exercise good judgment, tact, and courtesy.
  • Strengths in organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain complex clerical records and prepare statistical reports.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing/keyboarding or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handing.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Hearing: Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Repetitive motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The worker sits most of the time.
  • Visual AcuityClerical: Work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal extensive reading, operation of machines at distances close to the eyes.
  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
