Job Description

As a substitute teacher, you will serve as the supervisor of students as well as the teacher of a lesson plan in the absence of the classroom teacher. You will review lesson plans and classroom procedures as given by the classroom teacher and will execute them to the best of your ability. You will also provide valuable notes for the teacher to review upon their return. This role is critical for the students to receive seamless instructional support in the absence of the teacher.

Reports To: Building Principal or Designee

Rate of Pay:$100.00 per full day and $50.00 per half day. Retired and former USD 437 teachers will receive $105.00 per day and $52.50 per half day.

Approximate Hours:Elementary 8:00-4:00 |Secondary 7:30-3:30

Qualifications

Certificates/Licenses

  • Valid Kansas teaching license, standard substitute, or emergency substitute teaching license
  • Emergency substitute license holders are required by USD 437 to complete the online STEDI training and pass with at least an 85%. The district pays for this training.
  • Requirements as stipulated by KSDE for required license (KSDE.org)
