These include overseeing a team of Associate Technical Writers, providing guidance and mentorship, establishing effective communication channels, managing the creation and upkeep of technical documentation, and working closely with cross-functional teams to facilitate ongoing enhancements. As a hands-on supervisor, you will also undertake tasks typically performed by Associate Technical Writers, encompassing developing, revising, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), standard work, and other technical documentation. Furthermore, this role entails providing administrative support for all apprenticeships, encompassing timekeeping, rectifying punch-in errors, facilitating communications, and fulfilling other administrative obligations as necessary. Additionally, you will be expected to fulfill any supplementary position-related duties as delegated, underscoring the collaborative ethos of our team.Essential Duties:
Lead and guide a team of Technical Writers tasked with creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation.
Ensure oversight of the quality and consistency of documentation and the development and implementation of documentation standards and processes. Additionally, guarantee that all technical content aligns with the requirements of customers and stakeholders.
Develop and oversee essential metrics and compile and deliver reports to provide recommendations for technical documentation.
Collaborate closely with the Quality department to facilitate the document control process within the Electronic Quality Management Systems (eQMS).
Establish a culture of continual enhancement through the assessment of eQMS efficacy and the implementation of optimal methodologies.
Ensure the provision of training and support to the staff for eQMS procedures and best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate ongoing enhancements to documents and document control processes.
Support audit compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
Perform Associate Technical Writer duties including, but not limited to, creating, updating, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), standard work, and all other technical documentation and applying templates and style guides to documents originating from Kansas and other sites.
Responsible for providing administrative support for all apprenticeships, including tasks such as timekeeping, rectifying punch-in errors, facilitating communications, and other administrative duties supporting the apprentice programs as necessary.
Perform any additional position-related responsibilities as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly oversees 4-10 Associate Technical Writers. Responsible for executing supervisory duties in accordance with the organization's policies and relevant laws. These responsibilities encompass interviewing, hiring, and training associates, addressing complaints, and resolving issues. Additionally, the role involves developing the team through coaching, counseling, and mentoring, ensuring effective communication within the department, and promoting appropriate follow-up procedures. It also fosters confidence and motivation among associates within functional teams and the organization.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

Required: Associate degree in Technical Writing, English, or a related field or demonstrate a minimum of 2 years of Technical Writing experience or closely related experience. OR a combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, or a related field, or demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of Technical Writing experience or closely related experience.
Essential Qualifications
At least two years of prior technical writing experience or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
A minimum of one-year supervisory experience leading a diverse team.
Strong experience and skills using MS Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience working with an electronic Quality Management System (eQMS).
Experience participating in Quality Management System (QMS) audits.
Strong organization and diligence regarding grammar, punctuation, and other writing conventions.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities are essential to facilitate the creation and revision of documents.
Demonstrating a results-driven approach, strategically plan and execute according to production deadlines and objectives.
Possess resilience, self-motivation, and the ability to perform effectively under demanding conditions.
Familiar with style guides such as MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to formulate technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment.
Experience in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings.
Familiarity with integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into technical writing.
