Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for an Accountant with a focus on accounts payable and payroll processing in the telecom industry, based in Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky. As part of our team, you will be responsible for invoice payments, statement scrubbing, and payroll processing on a weekly basis. Proficiency in Excel and the ability to handle complex payroll situations involving commissions and unions are essential for success in this role. Responsibilities: Managing the accounts payable process, ensuring all invoices are paid in a timely manner. Performing regular statement scrubbing to maintain the accuracy of financial records. Utilizing Excel for various accounting tasks, demonstrating a high level of proficiency. Processing weekly payroll for a diverse group of employees, including hourly associates and commissioned drivers. Navigating complex payroll situations involving commissions and multiple unions. Preparing payroll data in Excel and posting into an internal software system. Monitoring and managing the payroll process, ensuring all payroll is processed by the due weekly deadline. Resolving any payroll discrepancies or issues in a timely and efficient manner. Requirements Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field Demonstrable experience in accounting or a relevant role Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting Practical knowledge of payroll processes and management Excellent problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Current and valid Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred Familiarity with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations as they pertain to accounting.
