job detailsjob summary:Our client, a Fortune 250 aerospace and automotive corporation is seeking a new product development engineer to join their team. The New Product Development Engineer is responsible for performing work assignments related to the evaluation, implementation and monitoring of New Product Introduction (NPI) activities including drawing sign-off responsibility, cost estimates, and New Product Development launches between design engineering and plant personnel. Position can be based in Kentucky or Pennsylvania.location: Bowling Green, Kentuckyjob type: Permanentsalary: $100,000 - 120,000 per yearwork hours: 8am to 4pmeducation: Bachelorsresponsibilities:

Coordinating New Product Introduction Activities at all project gates

Coordinate with plant production staff to develop prototype/production cost estimates and publish to the global team

Lead weekly NPI meetings with internal and extended members

Provide manufacturing knowledge at process gates to progress parts through the NPI process

Work closely with engineering staff on new tool design

Coordinate the completion of manufacturing deliverables, communicate manufacturing risks, and develop BOM's, routing, and time standards.

Provide input to new product design to facilitate manufacturability

Provide input to Engineering to aid in process improvement and cost savings

Work closely with the Design Engineering and Materials Engineering teams in Erie, PA

Work with Buyers, Planners, Sourcing, Account Managers, and Engineering to ensure NPI production milestones are met.

QualificationsRequired:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Industrial/Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related discipline.

Minimum 2 years of related manufacturing experience

Solidworks/Inventor experience

Experience in project or team leadership

Great written and verbal communication

Strong Microsoft Office skills

Great interpersonal skills

Willingness to work all hours as required

Ability to work independent of direct supervision.

Capable of reading and interpreting drawings, and able to make simple sketches and drawings to facilitate communication.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment with management and coworkers.

Ability to effectively communicate with management and coworkers.

Preferred:

Kaizen Leadership experience

Technical Certificates

SAP Proficiency

Experience with rubber to metal bonding

Understanding of 6 Sigma Tools

Understanding of SPC Quality control
