Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS)Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - within 30 days of hirePediatric Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (PALS) - within 30 days of hireJob SummaryDEFINITION: Under the general direction of the Surgical Services Coordinator, Director of Surgical Services, and the Chief Nursing Officer, is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing pre/intra/post-operative patient care utilizing the nursing process specific to the age of the patient population to patients before surgery and until dismissed to the nursing unit or to home for outpatients. Assists with all aspects of duty in department, including cleaning and reprocessing instruments as needed. The R.N. ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remaining flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treat staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect. Supports the medical and multidisciplinary plan of care, as well as the objectives of the hospital. Refer significant information or concerns to the Preop/PACU/Float Manager or Director of Surgical Services. The R.N. is flexible in staffing each intradepartmental area within Surgical Services to meet the needs of the department.
