The Opportunity:We have an opportunity for a Supervisor to oversee our sortline for incoming recycle materials.The primary duties of the sortline supervisor include:Oversee the processes and sorting of incoming recycling materials so that outbound recycling materials are acceptable for sale to various brokers or mills.Assign and oversee execution of sorting and housekeeping duties.Active participation in and encourage employee involvement in the Health and Safety Programs of WestRock.ResponsibilitiesSupervise production operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures for the sortline.Train and coach sorters, operators, and leads. Conduct employee performance counseling. Responsible for shift schedule to include: work station assignments, rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and temporary labor.Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers. Coordinate with Operations Manager for appropriate staffing levels. Schedule and conduct shift meetings. Responsible to meet shift production goals. Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications. Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs).Communicate with other Shift Supervisors and Operations Manager. Ensure a clean and safe work area. Complete shift paper work. Assist in production as necessary. Authorization Training in the following: Lock out Tag out, Machine Guarding, Confined Space, Aerial, Loader, Bobcat, and Forklift. (Will be trained in house)Create and maintain a preventative maintenance team.Other duties as assigned.Knowledge and Skill Requirements:Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of the recycling processes, procedures, and machinery. This is normally acquired through two to five years of manufacturing experience. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.Working ConditionsWorking conditions include a non-climate controlled environment. Communication with diverse staff. Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 45 pounds.Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats.
