Our client is a leader in the Navy, Marine, and Off-Shore markets and is seeking an Automation Systems Engineer to be based at their New Orleans location. They provide design, fabrication and installation services in Electro-Mechanical, HVAC/R, Fire Suppression, and Electric Propulsion Systems. They want to expand staff to meet and facilitate business growth. Summary The Automation Systems Engineer will be responsible for automation system design, including functional, physical and electrical components in accordance with customer requirements. Designs will include electrical schematics of control consoles, remote I/O enclosures, generator controls, interconnect diagrams, functional diagrams, PLC programming, component configuration, technical manuals and test procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Program PLCs to meet customer functional specifications while in accordance with industry standards such as IEC 61131
  • Develop testing procedures for automation systems
  • Perform factory acceptance testing with customer and regulatory body in attendance
  • Work with QA, Production personnel, and Field Technicians concerning automation systems
  • Ability to work with suppliers on function of system for components selection
  • Interpret customer specifications and drawings as they apply to our scope of supply

Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Regulatory bodies such as ABS, USCG, DNV, NEC, etc.
  • Knowledge of IEEE 45.
  • Experience programming PLCs (Siemens, Rockwell, etc.)
  • Experience designing HMI screens (such as Wonderware, WinCC OA, FactoryTalk, etc.)
  • Knowledge of software configuration control
  • Experience with design of electrical schematics of control circuits and interconnect diagrams
  • Ability to specify cable types for our scope of supply to our customers
  • Experience using AutoCAD

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited university or college (Master's level or higher preferred)
  • 2+ years of Automation Systems experience (on ship preferred)
