We are a leading Web Services and eGovernment Company seeking a Business Development Manager at our Baton Rouge, LA subsidiary of eGovernment firm NIC (Nasdaq: EGOV). We build websites, web applications, and mobile applications that allow businesses and citizens to access information and complete business online with the state of Louisiana.

SUMMARY

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is accountable for gathering intelligence, developing and leading a capture plan and achieving pipeline, sales, and business development results for NIC within State and local Government in Louisiana. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for analyzing and reporting business capture activities, identifying and engaging on strategic opportunities, developing new clients, driving financial growth and aligning partner needs and NIC’s service offerings. The Business Development Manager is expected to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of our offerings and services, financial drivers and imperatives, and develop and maintain relationships that benefit our partners and company alike. They will sell across state-wide agencies and assist in promoting the company within industry trade associations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fully understand the NIC model and products, including diverse areas of growth opportunities
  • Identify and qualify specific financial growth opportunities and effectively transition the opportunities from capture to close
  • Generate leads and cold call prospective customers
  • Building, maintaining, and growing professional relationships at all levels
  • Participate and engage directly in market-facing activities (e.g., trade associations, boards, conferences, and other client-facing activities)
  • Assume a leadership role and accountability for potential deals including full capture, stakeholder outreach, and presentation and participating in material creation including sales collateral specific to focused solution areas
  • Think strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business
  • Work strategically - carrying out necessary planning in order to implement operational changes
  • Develop promotional strategy and activities for sales leads
  • Keep abreast of trends and changes in the business and technical world
  • Work with Vice Presidents and General Manager to develop and sustain NIC Business Unit and alliance partner executive relationships through personal meetings, presentations, business networking and/or other business or social gatherings
  • Other responsibilities assigned by manager
  • Travel, generally up to 75% of the month

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in selling complex, enterprise solution and services to state government agencies and departments
  • Excellent team player
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding sales quota in prior roles
  • Comfortable with interacting personally with people in government and business settings
  • Strong verbal, presentation and written skills
  • Experience working with state and local government executive management
  • Ability to manage strategic client relationships across state and local client sets
  • Ability to evaluate and anticipate market and client needs and collaborate across the organization to develop innovative solutions
  • Familiarity with a variety of the government sales field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to be self-managed and motivated
  • Experience in sales, marketing or related field
  • Strong communication skills and IT fluency
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of services
  • Comfortable using a computer for various tasks
  • Able to work in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
