This is a DIRECT HIRE permanent position.

Marine Crane Operator

Automation Personnel Services is looking for a Marine Crane Operator for a company based in Belle Chasse, LA, with work in surrounding cities and offshore locations.

Pay Rate

$35 per hour (WITH per diem allowance for expenses incurred during business travel, such as lodging, meals, and incidental costs)

Schedule and Hours

Full-time position with rotating shifts, including offshore rotations and variable schedules depending on project requirements.

This is a DIRECT HIRE permanent position.

Marine Crane Operator Duties and Responsibilities

Operate both hydraulic and friction cranes safely and efficiently in marine and offshore environments.

Execute complex lifts of materials, equipment, and structures following lift plans and load charts.

Conduct daily pre- and post-operation inspections of crane components, rigging gear, and safety devices.

Verify proper rigging and load configurations before each lift.

Maintain clear radio and visual communication with riggers, signal persons, and supervisors during crane operations.

Follow all company safety policies and applicable OSHA and maritime regulations.

Complete crane inspection logs, lift plans, and operational checklists.

Assist with material handling, equipment staging, and logistics when not operating cranes.

Perform light maintenance and ensure cranes are in operational condition.

Operate cranes in variable conditions including offshore platforms, barges, and shipyards.

Marine Crane Operator Qualifications and Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Workplace health and safety regulatory compliance

NCCCO certification preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience operating cranes in marine, construction, or offshore environments.

Experience with friction and hydraulic cranes required; ringer crane experience preferred.

Ability to read and interpret lift plans, rigging drawings, and load charts.

Strong knowledge of safe lifting practices, OSHA regulations, and crane maintenance.

Excellent communication and situational awareness skills.

Physical stamina to operate heavy equipment for extended periods and work in demanding environments.

Valid TWIC card required with ability to work offshore for extended rotations.
